Thousands join Namo Yuva Run in Jamshedpur for a drug-free future

Jamshedpur: The streets of Jamshedpur turned into a sea of enthusiasm on Sunday morning as thousands of youngsters took part in the “Namo Yuva Run” marathon, organized by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Jamshedpur Metropolitan. The 5-km run, part of BJP’s Seva Pakhwada campaign to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, was flagged off near Sacred Heart Convent School by former Chief Minister Champai Soren and Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahto.

Chants of “Drug-Free Jamshedpur, Fit India” echoed as participants ran through Central Industrial Security Area and Sai Mandir before returning to the starting point. Service camps lined the route, offering water, snacks, and first aid, while BJYM volunteers ensured smooth conduct. Each participant was provided with an official T-shirt.

In the men’s category, Arjun Tudu bagged first place, followed by Bablu Tudu and Anupam Mahato. Among women, Nisha Kumari Sah stood first, with Chaina Kumari and Nandini finishing second and third. Winners received cash prizes of Rs 11,000, Rs 7,500, and Rs 5,100 along with trophies.

Addressing the gathering, former CM Champai Soren said, “The Namo Yuva Run reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Fit Youth, Hit Country. It is not just a marathon but a movement for health, discipline, and a drug-free India.”

MP Bidyut Baran Mahto underlined the significance of fitness for today’s generation, remarking, “This run inspires youth to move away from drugs and social media addiction, and towards sports and a healthier life.”

Former BJP State President Dr. Dineshanand Goswami described the event as “a celebration of unity and patriotism,” while State Minister Nandji Prasad urged participants to embrace fitness and discipline daily. Metropolitan President Sudhanshu Ojha called it “a declaration of war against drug abuse,” and BJYM District President Nitish Kushwaha noted that similar runs were organized in 75 locations nationwide with the pledge of a drug-free India.

Prominent leaders including Abhay Singh, Binod Singh, Neeraj Singh, Dr. Rajiv, Alok Vajpayee, Tanmay Jha, Pradeep Mukherjee, Chintu Singh, Shailesh Gupta, Sonu Thakur, Krishnakant Rai, Anand Kumar, Binananda Sirka, Amit Mishra, Sushil Pandey, Ashok Mishra, and Raj Singh also attended the event.
