NIT Jamshedpur and Bajaj Auto Foundation Launch ‘BEST’ Engineering Programme

Jamshedpur: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bajaj Auto Foundation (BAF) to implement the flagship Bajaj Engineering Skills Training (BEST) programme on campus. This partnership marks a significant step in bridging the gap between academic theory and industrial practice.

A ₹9 Crore Investment in Advanced Manufacturing

Under this initiative, NIT Jamshedpur will establish a dedicated BEST Centre. Bajaj Auto has committed ₹9 crore in CSR investments to equip the facility with state-of-the-art laboratories and industry-relevant infrastructure specifically for Advanced Manufacturing.

The programme aims to skyrocket student employability by:

• Industry-Aligned Curriculum: Integrating courses designed by senior Bajaj Auto leaders and expert engineers.

• Hands-On Learning: Focusing on project-based training and real-world industrial problem-solving.

• Expert Delivery: Combining the academic depth of NIT faculty with specialized industry insights.

Training the Trainers

To ensure high-quality delivery, NIT faculty members will undergo specialized training before teaching the new curriculum. Upon successful completion of the programme, students will receive a professional certification, validating their “future-ready” skill sets in line with national skilling initiatives.

The MoU signing featured key representatives from both organizations:

• From Bajaj Auto: Sudhakar Gudipati (VP, CSR) and Vinita Shekhawat (Management Trainee).

• From NIT Jamshedpur: Prof. Goutam Sutradhar (Director), Prof. Ram Vinoy Sharma (Deputy Director), Prof. Saroj Kumar Sarangi (Registrar I/c), and various department heads from Mechanical, Electrical, and Production Engineering.
