Thieves shoot at Neelanchal Iron and Power security guard near Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, April 21: Unidentified thieves shot at a security guard on duty at Neelanchal Iron and Power Limited in Kandra on Thursday.

The victim, Jai Nath Pandey, was taken to Tata Main Hospital where his condition was reportedly stable, sources said.

According to police, the incident took place around 4 am when four to five thieves entered the company premises by scaling the boundary wall near Gate No 3. On seeing the thieves, Pandey rushed to the spot to nab them. Just then, one of the thieves opened fire at him. The bullet hit Pandey’s chest. Pandey fell unconscious on the ground. His colleagues rushed to the scene and informed the company management about the incident. He was rushed to TMH in an ambulance, sources said.

The thieves fled the scene by taking advantage of the chaos on the company premises, sources said.

Police officials said they were searching for the thieves responsible for the shootout and theft attempt. They said there were no CCTV cameras on the company premises to keep watch on thieves.
