Jamshedpur, July 24: A house in the Parsudih area of Jamshedpur fell victim to a brazen burglary, with thieves making off with jewelry and household items valued at several lakhs of rupees. The incident has left the homeowner, Lakhi Das, in shock and highlighted concerns about security in the area.
The theft occurred at Lakhi Das’s residence on Haludbani Juhi Road, which had been unoccupied for an extended period. Das, who had been staying with relatives since her daughter’s marriage, only discovered the break-in when she returned to the property on Wednesday.
According to Das, the thieves gained entry by forcing open the back door of the house. Once inside, they targeted a cupboard containing jewelry worth approximately 4.5 lakhs, along with expensive utensils. The total value of the stolen items is estimated to be in the lakhs.
Das had recently visited the house during the Lok Sabha elections to clean it before returning to her relative’s home. It was during her most recent visit that she discovered the theft.
Upon learning of the incident, Parsudih police promptly arrived at the scene with a team to begin their investigation. However, when questioned about the case, police officials declined to comment, stating only that the investigation is ongoing.
The victim has filed a written complaint with the local authorities.
