Jamshedpur:  Criminal activities at Tatanagar railway classification yard have escalated to the point where railway employees are now being directly attacked by miscreants. In a shocking incident on the night of March 21, three criminals attacked compressor machine operator Chhedi Lal Yadav while he was conducting a brake power test on an empty goods train parked at Line No. 17.

According to Yadav, the miscreants attempted to steal iron plates and iron channels from the compressor plant. When he protested, they attacked him with a razor, injuring his wrist. Another miscreant then struck him with a brick, causing serious injuries. Hearing his screams, the criminals fled the scene. Fellow railway workers rushed to his aid and reported the incident to the RPF control room. However, RPF personnel arrived nearly 30 minutes later, raising concerns over the security response time.

Railway employees have expressed growing fear and frustration over the frequent thefts and attacks occurring in the classification yard. Railway worker Nagendra stated, “Every day, criminals and thieves roam freely in the yard, stealing railway property. This is not the first time that employees have faced such attacks.” The Railway Employee Welfare Association has now demanded immediate action from the railway administration to strengthen security measures. “If no concrete steps are taken soon, even bigger incidents could occur,” warned a railway official.
