Jamshedpur, Mar: The Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT Jamshedpur, successfully conducted a one-week Short-Term Training Program (STTP) on “Industry 4.0: A Journey Towards Modern Manufacturing” from March 17 to 21, 2025. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation, with 47 attendees online and 19 offline and brought together experts from academia and industry to discuss advancements in modern manufacturing.
The valedictory session was attended by Prof. M.K. Sinha (Dean R&C), Cornel Dr. N.K. Rai (Registrar), Prof. Sanjay (HoD, Mechanical Engineering), Prof. Prabha Chand (Dean FW) and Jivraj Singh Sandhu (Tata Motors, Jamshedpur) as the Chief Guest. Ten distinguished experts, including Prof. Goutam Sutradhar (Director, NIT Jamshedpur), Dr. Sudip Dey (NIT Silchar), Dr. Samik Dutta (CMERI Durgapur) and others from IITs and industries, delivered insightful sessions on topics such as machine learning in manufacturing, digital twins, automation, predictive maintenance and AI applications.
The program served as a crucial platform for knowledge exchange, helping participants understand the impact of Industry 4.0 on manufacturing. By fostering collaboration between academia and industry, it aimed to equip professionals and researchers with the latest trends in smart manufacturing and digital transformation.
