Jamshedpur: Unidentified thieves took away property worth around Rs 2 lakh from Jamshedpur High School situated in Contractors Area, Bistupur, late yesterday night. They also took away acid kept in the school along with various valuables.
An FIR has been lodged in this connection. Police said local thieves could be involved in the incident. Police officials said they discovered the theft when they arrived at the school this morning. Locks were picked and the goods kept inside were found missing.
The school headmaster registered a written complaint soon after a search for the goods gave no results.
School officials said the theft of acid was specially worrying since it could be misused by the thieves. Sale of acid has been made very difficult following court rulings after many girls and women were made victims by culprits in different parts of the country.
Police said they were searching for the culprits in the locality.
