Thai Poosam observed on day 8 of Saastha Preeti Celebrations

Jamshedpur, Jan. 31: As part of 70th Saastha Preeti Celebrations at Sri Dharma Saastha Temple on Wednesday, Thai poosam was observed. The day is considered very auspicious for Tamil population, as it is the day when Ma Parvati gave a weapon to her son Lord Karthik to destroy demons.

Due to this, abhishek and archana was performed for Lord Karthik with milk, holy water, honey and fruits. On the occasion bhajans were presented by Acharya Bhakta Sabha, Jamshedpur. Later on shringar was done and maha arati was shown and prasad was distributed to hundreds of devotees.

The temple remained closed in evening due to Lunar Eclipse (Chandra Grahan) and was reopened at 9.30 pm for 15 minutes only.

The seventh-day of the celebration on January 30, the pujas commenced with Sankalp, maha Ganapati puja, Raja Sankalpam, Punyahavachan. After this kalash puja started, inviting the installed kalash. Later on Shodasa maha Ganapati avahan puja was performed, followed by archana for Lord Ganesh. Agni mukanda puja and Ekakshara Ganapati havan was also performed by offering 1 lakh modak in the havan. Later on Shodasa Ganapati havan was performed for 16 forms of Lord Ganapati.

After this maha poornahuti was performed in which a silk saree, ghee, fruits, coconut, all kinds of dry fruits were offered in havan. After the conclusion of havan, maha abhishek was performed for Lord Ganesh with 16 kalash. Later on, maha arati was shown and prasad was distributed to hundreds of devotees. Sunil Bhaskaran, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, along with wife attended the religious programme on Tuesday.

In the evening, and bhajan programme was organised in which Shyamala Srinivasan rendered soulful songs which kept the audience spellbound.
