Tender floated for construction of 12,072 PMAY houses in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: Houses for people in the low income group (LIG) with earnings not exceeding Rs 3 lakh per annum will be eligible for owning 2, 480 economically viable houses to come up in Bagunhatu and 9,592 at Birsanagar.

Presently, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna– Urban (PMAY-Urban), 12, 072 WS flats are being constructed. This information was given by the Assistant Director of Urban Development Department Sanjay Kumar during a camp in a slum area at Burmamines.

Under the directive of the Urban Development Department JUDCO has floated the tender for construction of the 12,072 houses.

Kumar informed that the cost of construction of each house would be between Rs7.50 to 8 lakh. The centre would provide Rs 1.50 lakh and the state government would contribute Rs I lakh. The balance amount of the cost would have to be borne by the beneficiary. Cost of construction of basic infrastructure like community hall, water supply system and similar other provisions will be borne by the state government.

Beneficiaries may avail of bank loans to meet their part of the cost of construction. To make it convenient for the availability of bank loans for houses under the PMAY, the department, each beneficiary and the bank will have to enter into a tripartite agreement. This will enable the banks to provide loans to beneficiaries based on the certificates of possession provided by the department.

The houses will have an approximate carpet area of 30 sq meters with plenty of greenery all around. Parking space and uninterrupted water and power supply have been provisioned for. The registration fee is Re 1. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months.
