Jamshedpur: Residents can expect a rise in minimum temperatures by 3-4 degrees Celsius over the next three days, according to a weather forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
Weathermen attributed the temperature rise to the absence of significant synoptic features over Jharkhand. “Weather would be mainly dry, with some places likely to witness cloud formation after the next 24 hours,” said a duty officer at the Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
On Wednesday, most parts of the state woke up to bright and pleasant weather, accompanied by a gentle breeze in some areas. The minimum temperature was recorded at around 13 degrees Celsius in Ranchi and its adjoining regions over the past 24 hours. A similar trend was observed in Daltonganj and Bokaro, where the minimum temperature also hovered around 13 degrees Celsius.
The rise in minimum temperatures is expected to bring slight relief from the chilly mornings and nights experienced over the past week. According to weather experts, the increase in temperature is typical for this time of the year as winter gradually transitions into the pre-summer phase.
Despite the anticipated rise in temperatures, the weather will remain largely dry across the state, with no significant rainfall expected. However, partly cloudy skies may be observed in certain areas after the next 24 hours, potentially influencing daytime temperatures.
Local residents have welcomed the forecast, anticipating milder mornings and evenings. “It’s good news as the chill in the air was becoming quite uncomfortable. A slight rise in temperature will be pleasant,” said Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Sakchi.
Meanwhile, health experts have advised residents to stay cautious, especially during early mornings and late evenings when temperatures can still feel nippy. “Although temperatures are set to rise, fluctuations can lead to health issues such as cold and cough. It’s best to dress appropriately and avoid sudden exposure to cold weather,” suggested Dr. Meera Singh, a local physician.
“ The IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre will continue to monitor the weather patterns closely and provide updates as needed. Citizens are advised to stay informed about the changing weather conditions. With the upcoming rise in temperatures, Jharkhand is set to experience a gradual shift from winter to the warmer days of early spring, bringing respite to those affected by the recent cold spell,” said an official.
