Teej Festival at NIT Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: In a burst of vibrant colours and joyous festivities, the Teej festival illuminated the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Family Club premises as members of the Women’s Club came together to celebrate. The auspicious month of Sawan provided the perfect backdrop for this lively event, where the spirit of Teej was brought to life through dance, song, and fervent celebrations.

The festival, which honors Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva and seeks their blessings for unbroken good fortune, was marked by an exuberant display of traditions and cultural expressions. The President of the Women’s Club and the Institute’s Director, Indrani Sutradhar, inaugurated the celebrations by lighting a lamp before Lord Bholenath and Mother Parvati, invoking their divine presence.

The Women’s Club members embraced the essence of Teej by applying mehndi, adorning themselves in exquisite attire, and partaking in the spirit of unity and festivity. The cultural program encompassed various artistic performances, showcasing the diverse talents of the community.

The beauty contest, won by Mrs. Priyanka Sinha as the Teej Queen, added a touch of glamour to the festivities. However, the heart of the celebration lay in the mesmerizing dance performances, duets, and soulful renditions of folk songs. Participants like Pakhi and Gudiya, Devyanshi and Ayodhya, Sarika and Rashmi, and Priyanka and Poonam captured the essence of tradition and creativity through their presentations.

Solo dance performances by Rashmi Dhalla, Sarika, Divya, Tricha, and Renu Singh, among others, showcased the individual flair and dedication of the performers. Group dance acts by talented participants like Prabha Chand, Geeta Kumari, Geeta Prasad, Preeti Srivastava, Rachna Yadav, Poonam, Priyanka, Meena, and Ranjana further enthralled the audience with synchronized choreography and spirited performances.

The event welcomed distinguished guests, including Prof. Goutam Sutradhar, Director of the institute, Registrar Col. (Dr.) Nishith Kumar Rai, along with faculty members, office bearers, and their families. The director himself surprised attendees by serenading the gathering with his melodious rendition of Mukesh’s “Jaane Kahan Gaye Woh Din” and “Kya Yehi Pyar Hai” with his wife, Mrs. Indrani Sutradhar.

Under the leadership of Rachna Yadav and Rashmi Dhalla, Secretary of the Women’s Club of the institute, the program was meticulously designed and executed. Prof. S. B. Prasad and Prof. Prabha Chand played a significant role in making the Teej festival a resounding success.
