Teacher arrested and jailed for assaulting student; POCSO case filed

Jharia: The Dhansar police in Jharia have registered a case against teacher Janardan Prasad under various sections, including 381, 323, 354A, 75JJ Board, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The charges stem from an incident in Patrakuli, Jharia, where the teacher physically assaulted a student during a nail check at Patrakuli Government Middle School.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that the accused teacher, Janardan Prasad, was under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred. The police conducted a medical examination of the teacher to confirm the influence of alcohol during the assault. Subsequently, a case was registered, and the accused teacher has been sent to jail.

The incident unfolded when the teacher allegedly beat a student during a routine nail check, justifying it by claiming that the student’s nails were too long. This sparked controversy, and the teacher was detained by Dhansar police. Additionally, the teacher faced accusations of making inappropriate remarks to female students, leading to protests by several women who created a commotion at the school. As a result, the police detained the teacher for further investigation.
