Tatanagar: Two express trains cancelled for six months due to block in washing line

Jamshedpur : Following three-day suspension of several trains on Tata-Kharagpur route, the South Eastern Railway (SER) on Monday notified cancellation of two express trains for six months from November 27 due to a block in the washing line of Tatanagar railway station.The block is being carried for renovation of the washing line. The block will continue for six months.

The two trains Tatanagar- Mumbai LTT Antyodaya Express and Tatanagar- Visakhapatnam Special Express have been announced for cancellation. Maintenance of both the trains used to take place at the washing line of Tatanagar railway station.

Confirming this development, a senior official at Tatanagar railway station said that post renovation the washing line will be able to accommodate trains with as many as 26 coaches. Presently, the washing line can only accommodate trains with 19 coaches.

“It is really important for us to carry the work immediately. The washing line has three railway tracks for carrying out necessary maintenance of mail, express and passenger trains especially those originating from Tatanagar. Two of the tracks would be first closed during the block commencing on November 27,” he said.

Located on the Howrah-Mumbai main route Tatanagar is an important station. Several important trains travel via Tatanagar, including the high-profile Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express. The station sees a daily traffic of 90 mail, express and passenger trains, besides a footfall of more than 60,000 passengers..
