Jamshedpur: Passengers traveling from Tatanagar and surrounding regions will face disruptions as the Indian Railways has announced the cancellation of several trains due to ongoing line repair and development work in Uttar Pradesh. The Shalimar-Gorakhpur Express, which runs from Tatanagar via Gaya, Sasaram, and Banaras, will be cancelled for three days in April and one day in May.
According to railway authorities, the train will not operate from Shalimar on April 22, 24, and 29, as well as on May 3. Additionally, two trips of the Gorakhpur Express in both directions have been cancelled, affecting thousands of passengers traveling to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Some trains running from Ranchi and Sambalpur to Gorakhpur have also been affected by these changes.
In a separate update, the Puri-Anand Vihar Neelachal Express will now operate on a new route in April. Instead of passing through Varanasi, the train will travel via Mirzapur and Prayagraj before reaching Kanpur and continuing towards Delhi. This change is expected to ease congestion on the Varanasi route.
Meanwhile, the Puri-Rourkela Vande Bharat Express (20836-20835) will undergo a change in its weekly schedule. Previously, the train did not operate on Saturdays, but under the new order, its weekly holiday has been shifted to Tuesday. Starting June 3, 2025, the train will run on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, while remaining non-operational on Tuesdays.
