Jamshedpur, June 1: The Railways reiterates that sitting on the gate while travelling by train is a punishable offense. Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel have been actively enforcing this regulation, apprehending passengers found sitting on the train’s gate, imposing fines, and, in some cases, even sending them to jail for violating the Railway Act.
Despite these measures, there persists a lack of awareness among passengers, leading to unfortunate incidents. On June 1, two passengers aboard the Neelanchal Express suffered injuries after sitting on the train’s gate. They are currently undergoing treatment at a district hospital in West Bengal.
This incident underscores the dangers associated with gate sitting, not only risking legal consequences but also endangering lives.
