Rotary Club of Jamshedpur distributes eco-friendly bags among shopkeepers

Jamshedpur, June 1: In a concerted effort to promote environmental sustainability, the Rotary Club of Jamshedpur, along with the Rotary Saheli Centre (Women’s Empowerment Centre) and the Environment Committee, distributed 30,000 bags made of newsprint to various shopkeepers free of cost in Sonari Gudri Bazar under the “No Plastic” scheme.

Manufactured by the Rotary Saheli Centre, these bags serve as an eco-friendly alternative to plastic, aligning with the club’s commitment to reducing plastic usage and promoting a greener environment. President of the Rotary Club, Rotarian Pramod Dubey, addressed the shopkeepers present, emphasizing the detrimental effects of plastic bags on the environment and urging them to minimize their usage.

This year, a total of 50,000 bags manufactured by the Rotary Saheli Centre have been distributed free of cost, furthering the club’s efforts towards sustainability and environmental conservation.

The distribution event saw the presence of several club members, including former president Gyan Taneja, Mohan Lal Agarwal, Aruna Taneja, Sunil Kumar, Vijay Vaidyanathan, Mahendra Gupta, Rohan Mehra, Sapna Das, and Pinky Kumari, highlighting the collective commitment of the community towards a cleaner and greener future
