Jamshedpur, July 18: The quarters designated for Tatanagar railway employees have fallen into a state of severe disrepair, posing serious risks to the lives of those residing in them. Despite numerous complaints to senior officials urging repairs, no substantial action has been taken, leading to further deterioration of these quarters over time. Currently, there are 2100 railway quarters in Tatanagar, all of which were constructed approximately 50 years ago.
Due to prolonged neglect and lack of maintenance, these quarters have deteriorated significantly. The deteriorating condition includes walls where plaster is falling off, ceilings with exposed rods, and external walls overgrown with unchecked vegetation. Employees continue to reside in these unsafe conditions, highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive repairs and renovations to ensure their safety and well-being.
Efforts to address these issues have been ongoing, with appeals for immediate attention and action from railway authorities to prevent further decay and ensure the quarters meet basic standards of habitability.
