Chakradharpur, June 12: A passenger, identified as M Ali, died following critical health problems on board Howrah-Mumbai Gitanjali Superfast Express at Chakradharpur railway station on Saturday. His son alleged that his father died due to delay in treatment, sources said.
According to sources, Ali’s condition deteriorated before reaching Rourkela station. He demanded treatment facility from the on-board staff. Despite his complaint, he was reportedly not provided any medical help at Rourkela station. Later, when the train reached Chakradharpur station, Dr Rajnish Ranjan examined Ali and declared him dead.
Ali’s body was not brought down from the train at Chakradharpur and was left to travel till Howrah in the same compartment. The co-passengers protested this and demanded removal of the body under fear of catching Covid infection, sources said.
Railway authorities could not be contacted for their comments on the incident.
