Jamshedpur DC appeals not to heed rumours

Jamshedpur, June 12:  East Singhbhum District Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav appealed to the residents not to pay heed to rumors. She said that the people of East Singhbhum district were peace loving and maintained an atmosphere of fraternity. In her message to the district denizens, DC Vijaya Jadhav observed, “I appeal to all of you not to pay heed to rumors and hearsay. Maintain peace and exercise restraint. Continue to maintain mutual harmony and brotherhood that you are known for and respected.”

The district administration was fully braced up for contingent situations including maintenance of law and order. Magistrates had been deputed who, along with police were organizing flag march through the city especially in sensitive areas. Social media platforms were being monitored by the cyber cell. Peace committee meetings were being conducted at various places and appeals were being made to maintain mutual harmony. People were being asked not to lend ears to gossip and to refrain from listening to or passing on rumors. However, in cases where mischievous elements were trying to foment discord and chaos, then the local police or the district administration were to be informed so that such situations could be nipped in the bud.

Further, the district and police administrations have appealed to the people not to forward provocative and other objectionable posts including controversial and concocted news posts, photos and video clippings that were provocative in nature on social media.

Police were keeping a hawk eye on all social accounts and legal action will be taken against persons promoting such unethical and mischievous information on social media.
