Tatanagar: Disruption of train services enrage passengers, chaos at Jhargram station

Jamshedpur, Nov 30: Frustrated and angry passengers created ruckus on Thursday morning at Jhargram station in the Kharagpur rail division, holding up several trains, including the Steel Express and various local trains. During this protest, commuters traveling in trains such as the Steel Express descended onto the railway tracks, raising slogans of discontent. The majority of those causing commotion were railway workers and laborers, who routinely rely on trains to reach their daily duties.

The protesters alleged that passenger trains were being halted to allow freight trains to pass, a practice that often resulted in delays for them to reach their work on time. As news of the protest spread, RPF (Railway Protection Force), GRP (Government Railway Police), and railway officials rushed to the scene, attempting to pacify the crowd, but without success. Subsequently, the Railway Police used force to remove the agitating individuals from the tracks.

Due to the disturbance, Jan Shatabdi and Ispat Express, headed towards Tata, were delayed as they were held up at the outer signal of Jhargram. Similarly, the Duronto Express from Tata was also held up. After the chaos subsided, all trains were allowed to proceed to their destinations.
