Jamshedpur: CGPC confers Jharkhand Ratna Seva Award on Dr KS Sidhu

Jamshedpur, Nov 30: The Central Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (CGPC) conferred the prestigious Jharkhand Ratna Seva Award on the renowned medic whose motto of service to ailing mankind has come to the fore on several occasions, Dr Kripal Singh Sidhu, the messiah of the elderly and the poor at a special programme on Thursday, November 30. Educationist, Ravinder Kaur was also honoured on the occasion.

The special guests on the occasion were SSP Kaushal Kishore Rural SP Rishabh Garg. The other guests included Jharkhand Minority Commission Vice Chairman Jyoti Singh Matharu and Secretary of Takht Shri Harmandir Ji, Patna, Inderjeet Singh.

Participants of the Nagar Kirtan procession organized on the occasion of Prakash Utsav on Monday, November 27 in celebration of the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, which included groups, schools, and organizations, were honoured in the Central Divan. SSP Kaushal Kishore and Rural SP Rishabh Garg felicitated the participants of the Shobha Yatra. Speaking on the occasion, the SSP praised the Sikh community of Jamshedpur and the CGPC, lauding the peaceful and disciplined manner in which Nagar Kirtan was conducted. He appreciated the attention given to cleanliness and discipline during the Nagar Kirtan, citing it as an inspiring example.

Sardar Bhagwan Singh, the Chairman of CGPC, expressed gratitude to the Sangat and all committees, attributing the historic success of Nagar Kirtan this year to their efforts. He credited the Sangat and committees for making Nagar Kirtan historic this year.

Minority Commission, Jharkhand Vice-Chairman Jyoti Singh Matharu, and Secretary of Takht Shri Harmandir Ji, Patna, Inderjeet Singh, shared their thoughts and distributed awards as mementos.

Dr. Kripal Singh Sidhu, the Messiah of the poor in Jamshedpur, was jointly honored with the Jharkhand Sikh Ratan Seva Award by the Central Gurudwara Management Committee and the Takht Shri Harmandir Ji, Patna Committee. It was decided that a request letter would be sent to the Prime Minister and Home Minister to honour Dr Sidhu with the Padma Bhushan Award, a proposal which was accepted unanimously by all present at the programme.

The award distribution ceremony commenced after the Morning Prayer and Asa-Di-Var at Central Divan. Hazoori Raagi Sandeep Singh Sakchi rendered Kirtans between 10 am and 12:45 pm followed by the recitation of Gurubani by Sardar Kanvaljeet Singh between 12:45 pm and 1:45 pm. The award distribution ceremony commenced thereafter.
