Jamshedpur, April 23: Tata Steel Zoological Park celebrated Earth Day 2025 by organising a programme on “Making Bio-Pesticides at Home” for rural youths from Patamda Block.
A group of enthusiastic participants of “Bidu Chandan Trust for Tribal Self-Empowerment” from Palashbani village situated along National Highways 33 in the outskirts of Steel City took part in the workshop. The theme of this year is “Our Power, Our Planet”.

Maintaining soil fertility and its biodiversity is crucial for human survival; without healthy soil, the plants necessary for our survival, as well as that of animals, cannot thrive. Fertile soil is often depleted due to poor farming practices. Today’s youth needs to be aware of and take responsibility for our environment and biodiversity to protect these vital resources for future generations.
Tata Steel Zoological Park continually seizes opportunities to raise public awareness about the challenges facing our planet and the life it sustains. The workshop, organized for Earth Day 2025, is part of the educational initiatives planned by the Tata Steel Zoological Park to promote wildlife and nature conservation.
The workshop on making eco-friendly bio-pesticides was conducted by Dr. Seema Rani, a Biologist cum Education officer at Tata Zoo. She demonstrated the simple process of creating bio-pesticides using ingredients that can be sourced from one’s kitchen garden or backyard.
