Jamadoba, July 18: Tata Steel at Jamadoba organized a closing ceremony of cataract operation camp in which the operated patient received eye glasses. The programme was organized by Tata Steel Rural Development Society in collaboration with Sankara Nethralaya at Digwadih Community Centre on July 17, 2018.
Sanak Ghosh, Chief Operations, Jamadoba, Tata Steel inaugurated the programme by lightning the lamp. The cataract operation camp was attended by 1131 patients, out of which 452 selected patients were successfully operated by Dr Bibhuti Narayan, Dr Vimal Harsora and a team of doctors and medical staff of Sankara Nethralaya. The camp was followed by distribution of Eye glasses for the patients to protect their eyes from direct sunlight, dust particles and other infections, if any.
The sole aim of the camp was to have eye care services at the doorstep of the villagers who otherwise couldn�t afford the same. The beneficiaries included Industrial labourers and particularly the elderly belonging to the lower economic strata. Patients from different villages of leasehold area of Tata Steel, namely, Jharia, Dhanbad, Sijua, Jorapokhar and Bhowra benefitted from the camp.
Present on the occasion were Amitabh Mukherjee, Head Administration, Jharia Division, Niloy Mittar, Head Health, CSR, Tata Steel, Santosh Mahato, Regional Secretary of Rhastriya Colliery Mazdoor Sangh, S.S Jama Regional President of Rhastriya Colliery Mazdoor Sangh, Union Office bearers, Kaushik Das, Unit Head, TSRDS, Jamadoba and officers of TSRDS and Tata Steel Jharia Division.
