Chicago Day celebrated in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: On the occasion of Chicago Day, the Swami Vivekanand Vyakhyanmala Samiti organized a thought-provoking seminar on the topic ‘Role of Youth in Nation Building’ at Chitragupt Bhawan in Sonari. The seminar, held in two sessions, featured an inauguration followed by a technical session where esteemed guest speakers from across the country presented papers on the significance of youth participation in the nation’s progress. These papers are set to be published by the organizing committee in the near future.

The event was inaugurated by Chaitanya Bhanu, Vice President of Operations at Tata Steel, who served as the chief guest. Other prominent figures included retired Jharkhand Police DIG Deepak Sinha, Ranchi Central University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. JP Lal, Jai Prakash Narayan University Vice Chancellor Dr. PK Vajpayee, and Dr. Shambhu Sharan Prasad from Patna. The seminar commenced with a warm welcome from the committee’s convenor, AK Srivastava, and was conducted by Sanjeev, with a vote of thanks delivered by co-convenor Ajay Kumar Srivastava.

In his address, chief guest Chaitanya Bhanu underscored the crucial role that the youth play in shaping the future of the nation. However, he expressed concern over the shortcomings of the current education system, which he believes has not fully prepared young people to take on this responsibility. “Our outdated education policy does not focus enough on character building, culture, and civilization,” he said. “As a result, many youth today are solely focused on securing jobs after completing their education.”

Bhanu stressed that by channeling the energy and potential of youth in a constructive way, the nation can be developed more effectively. He called upon the younger generation to follow the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, who believed deeply in the power and promise of youth to build a strong and ethical society.

Retired DIG Deepak Sinha, the special guest at the seminar, expressed concern about the growing trend of youth spending excessive time on social media platforms, particularly on creating reels. He stated that while entertainment has its place, character building and the protection of national dignity should be prioritized for true nation-building.

The seminar was made successful through the efforts of dedicated individuals such as Abhay Singh, Shashank Shekhar, and Ashok Dubey, whose contributions were praised during the event.
