Jamshedpur: Tata Steel has revealed plans for the restoration process in its two subsidiaries, Tata Steel Technical Services and Tata Steel Support Services, slated to commence in January 2024. The restoration initiative aims to prioritize the sons and daughters of employees, along with registered relations, with a particular focus on Reb 350 restoration.
The integration of all outsourced employees from Tata Main Hospital (TMH) into Tata Steel Support Services Company marks a significant step. This subsidiary will specifically reinstate non-technical positions, covering about 50 percent of Tata Steel’s overall workload.
Tata Technical Services Company, on the other hand, will focus on reinstating technical hands, excluding Block 1 and Block 2 of Tata Steel, where reinstatements will occur directly through the newly formed companies. Approximately half of Tata Steel’s work will be outsourced to these two entities.
The restoration process within Tata Steel Support Services will extend to various non-essential departments, including the Sports Department and TMH. Notably, all nurses and maintenance employees from TMH will transition to this subsidiary. The initiative is expected to reinstate several technical and maintenance job employees within Tata Steel.
Trade apprentices in Technical Services will be among the first to benefit from the reinstatement process, with additional roles expected to follow suit. Existing employees, including trade apprentices, will continue to be part of these companies.
This restoration model has been successfully implemented across all Tata Steel plants, starting from the Kalinganagar plant. Currently focused on non-technical permanent positions within the Jamshedpur plant, the subsequent phase will witness the reinstatement of lower-level technical personnel.
Sanjeev Chaudhary, President of Tata Workers Union, expressed that the formation of two distinct companies was part of a pre-existing agreement, now being effectively implemented in Jamshedpur. The restoration efforts signify a commitment to the workforce and the broader community.
