Tata Steel UISL Senior supervisor suicide case: Police lodges FIR against two company officials

 

Jamshedpur, August 9: Jamshedpur Police on Friday lodged an FIR against two officials of TATA Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (UISL) for allegedly forcing a senior supervisor of the company leading to take his life.

The FIR was lodged at Golmuri police station.

Golmuri police station officer in-charge BN Singh talking to The Avenue Mail said, “An FIR has been filed against chief of department Dr. Alok Kumar and Area Manager. A case was  registered on the plea of the deceased’s son Pushpendra Kumar.”

Om Prakash Sahu (56 Years),  a senior sanitary supervisor at Public Health Department of TATA Steel UISL, died due to suicide. He was found hanging in his office at flat number 102 of Workers Flat.

Another police officer stationed at Golmuri police station said, “Police said, during their investigation they have learnt that Sahu had asked his colleagues to go out for lunch and on returning they discovered his lifeless body and immediately alerted the authorities.”

The officer further added that a case has been register under IPC section 108.

Kumar talking to media said, “My father had been struggling with an overwhelming workload for months. In the suicide note my father had mentioned that he was burdened with the responsibility of managing four clusters in multiple areas. Despite repeated appeals his requests for support went unheeded by his seniors.”

Soon after the incident, the company in an official communique had said, “TSUISL is providing all support to the investigating agencies. The company is with the aggrieved family and is providing all support as per company policy. As a responsible corporate, TSUISL is committed to the safety and well-being of all its stakeholders”.
