Jamshedpur: Tata Steel today inaugurated the 7th Technical Exhibition (TechEx 2015), an exhibition of engineering prowess at Shavak Nanavati Technical Institute.
Dr Karl Ulrich Koehler, MD & CEO, Tata Steel, Europe graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. As many as 44 projects are being showcased by participants including the trainees of TAs, JETs & MTs, other Tata Steel Departments from Works and Raw Materials Divisions and organisations like Jusco, Tata Motors, Tayo Rolls, Tata Metalliks, TCIL and NTTF. The exhibition will remain open to all from March 3 to 5, 2015, during 9 am and 6 pm.
The exhibition originally started in 2008 with 20 projects and was visited by 600 people. The footfall last year was more than 4000. The projects being showcased are based on themes – Engineering utilities, Mechatronics, Domestic appliances, Plant pain areas, Creativity, Innovation, Environment and Training enhancement.
The exhibition is based on Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata’s vision ‘Let the Indian learn to do things himself’. The young cadres of TAs, JETs and MTs, in addition to their regular training through classroom sessions and laboratory practices has made a concerted effort to think, create and develop innovative models of their own based on principles of science and engineering.
Tata Steel through this exhibition has given these youngsters a platform to showcase their creativity and make their ideas transform to reality in line with Mr Shavak Nanavati’s thinking ‘The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled’.
