Tata Steel Jamshedpur Signs 20-Year Deal with Air Water India for Air Separation Unit Operations

Jamshedpur, October 16: Tata Steel has entered into a long-term, 20-year contract with Air Water India Private Limited for the operation and maintenance of its Air Separation Unit (ASU) located at Jamshedpur. The unit is currently under stabilization and is scheduled to be handed over to Air Water in November 2025.

The contract was signed by Peeyush Gupta, Vice President (TQM, GSP & SC), Tata Steel, and Kausik Mukhopadhyay, Managing Director, Air Water India Private Limited.

The onsite plant is designed to produce 1,800 tons per day of oxygen, along with nitrogen, argon, and dry compressed air. These gases will be primarily utilized in Tata Steel’s Blast Furnaces and Steel Melting Shops.

This strategic partnership further strengthens the relationship between Tata Steel and Air Water, ensuring a reliable and efficient gas supply for Tata Steel’s operations. By leveraging Air Water’s extensive global expertise in cryogenic operations, including remote operational support and maintenance insights from their Japanese facilities, the collaboration is set to enhance plant efficiency and operational excellence for years to come.
