Tata Steel Jamshedpur distributes 5500 food packs, 300 tarpaulins to flood victims  

Jamshedpur, Aug 21: The torrential rains in Jamshedpur for the last two days have thrown life out of gear. The duress brought on by the flood has been assessed jointly by the district administration, Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Service Limited, Tata Steel and Tata Steel Foundation.

Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF), Tata Steel Foundation (TSAF), Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Service Limited and Corporate Admin team of Tata Steel worked together to evacuate people and distributed relief material in flood hit areas of the city on Sunday.

The team assessed the situation in all areas impacted by flood and distributed dry food packets to the rescued families.

The residents of some of the areas affected by flood water, including those at Shastri Nagar and Greenpark, have been extracted from their residences with the use of rafts from Tata Steel Adventure Foundation. Dry food packets to some families have also been provided.

Tata Steel team distributed 150 tarpaulins to flood affected residents of Bhuinyadih. An additional 150 tarpaulins have also been extended to residents of Sapra village at Seraikela, through Tata Steel Long Products.

A total of 5500 packs of one pot meal (khichdi) were distributed to families in need of immediate food.

More than 15 employees of Tata Steel stepped forward to assist in the relief process today, as part of the Company’s Employee Volunteerism initiative. Most of them have either been part of previous relief efforts or have contributed effectively during the COVID combat period. Accordingly, the employees either assisted in evacuating people through rafts, or were instrumental at food and tarpauling distribution.
