Jamshedpur flood: Health minister, administration inspect flood affected areas in city outskirts

ADM takes stock of flood affected area in Mango

Civic bodies, social organisations carry out relief work at shelter homes 

Jamshedpur, August 21: East Singhbhum district administration and state health minister Banna Gupta who represents Jamshedpur West assembly constituency visited the flood affected areas on Sunday.

ADM law and order East Singhbhum N. K Lal explained to the affected people that now the water of the river is decreasing. The water level of both Swarnarena Rekha and Kharkai rivers is decreasing. The ADM said that on the instructions of the district administration, social organizations are distributing food and relief materials in the flood affected areas.

Significantly, swelling of River Subernarekha has led to inundation in areas like Shankosai, Shyam Nagar, Ram Nagar, Kunwar Basti among others in Mango.

Mango Municipal Corporation has started relief work. Relief camps have been set up. Apart from this, water supply is being done by tanker in the flood prone areas. Voluntary organizations have also distributed breakfast in the flood-prone areas.

Jamshedpur West’s MLA and Health Minister Banna Gupta visited the flood prone areas of Jamshedpur on Sunday. In addition to Kadma and Shastri Nagar, he went to Kunwar Basti,  Sankosai in Mango and talked to the flood victims.

He said that the district administration has been asked to solve the problems and shift affected people to shelter homes.

He also instructed for spreading of bleaching powder so that infection does not spread. Health Minister visited Shastri Nagar Block No. 1, Block No. 2, Block No. 3, Nirmalarm Colony, Below Milan Samiti, Shastri Nagar Block No. 4, Chhath Ghat of Kadma, Ramjanma Nagar, Bihari Basti, Pratima Nagar, Eden Park, Bage Basti, Green Park, Ra Managar, Vidya Pati Tower.

Control room set up at district headquarters

Jamshedpur, Aug 21: On the instructions of the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner, a control room has been set up at the district headquarters for flood relief. Along with this, personnel have been deputed there. The Deputy Commissioner has asked the people of the submerged areas to contact the control room’s telephone numbers 8987510050, 06572440111 and 7079175344 for any kind of help and assistance.

On the other hand, there is a gradual decrease in the water level of Swarnarekha and Kharkai rivers. However, both the rivers are still flowing above the danger mark. At 8 am the Subernarekha river was flowing 3.60 meters above the danger mark (121.50), Kharkai river was flowing 6.90 meters above the danger mark (129.00).

Eight additional officers engaged in relief work

Jamshedpur, Aug 21: The Deputy Commissioner has deputed eight additional officers in addition to the already deputed officers for relief and rescue in the flood affected areas of the district. Jamshedpur Circle Officer Amit Kumar Srivastava (9471728344) and Agriculture Produce Market Committee’s Marketing Secretary Satish Chandra Sinku (7903858200) have been given the responsibility of Bagbera area. Similarly, Sumit Prakash (9971289957) Executive Magistrate, Dhalbhum, 9971289957 and Nisha Kumari (7209585893) Executive Magistrate, Dhalbhum have been appointed for Jugsalai Municipal Council area. Similarly, Santosh Kumar Mahato (8210355096) Executive Magistrate and Jyoti Kumari (7903117604) have been deputed for Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee region while Circle Officer Mango Harish Munda (7004507730) and Executive Magistrate Rashmi Ranjan (9304288649) have been deputed for Mango Municipal Corporation area.

Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav directed the necessary arrangements for food items and drinking water in the flood affected areas.
