Tata Steel announces lucrative mobile handset allowance for officers

Jamshedpur, Oct 20: To enhance employee welfare, Tata Steel has announced a substantial financial incentive for its officers to purchase mobile handsets. According to a recent circular issued by VP HRM Atrayee Sanyal, the company will provide varying amounts of up to Rs 64,000 depending on the officer’s grade and duration of service. This initiative aims to recognize the long-standing contributions of employees and ensure they have access to modern communication devices.

The revised policy specifies that officers who have been using a mobile phone for more than three years or four years will be eligible for an increased allowance—1.5 times the standard amount. The amount allocated for mobile handset purchases is structured based on the officer’s grade and the length of service.

For officers at the IL 2, E2, E3, and R2 levels, the allowances are as follows: Rs 32,000 will be provided for mobile purchases after two years of service, Rs 48,000 after three to four years, and Rs 64,000 for those who have been with the company for four years or more.

Meanwhile, officers at the IL 3, E4, E5, and R3 levels will receive Rs 25,000 after two years, Rs 37,500 after three to four years, and Rs 50,000 for four years of service or more. For IL 4, E6, E7, O1, and R4 level officers, the allowances are set at Rs 20,000 for two years, Rs 30,000 for three years, and Rs 40,000 for four or more years of service.

Officers at the IL 5, O2, O3, R5, O4, and O5 levels will receive Rs 16,000 after two years, Rs 24,000 after three to four years, and Rs 32,000 for those who have completed four or more years with the company. Lastly, IL 6 or O6 grade officers will be allocated Rs 14,000 after two years, Rs 21,000 after three to four years, and Rs 28,000 for four years or more of service.
