Jamshedpur, Oct 25: Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) has sent a proposal for power supply in Jamshedpur and Seraikela-Kharsawan by Tata Steel and Jusco respectively to Jharkhand State Power Corporation Regulatory Commission (JSPCRC). The proposal got the approval of its Board of Directors in the 41st meeting.
Once the JSPCRC gives its consent, the two companies will begin supplying power to Jamshedpur and Seraikela-Kharsawan, sources said.
According to officials, currently more than one power distribution licence-holder companies are supplying power in a given area of Jharkhand. At present, Tata Steel and Jusco supply power to high voltage consumers. As a result, the power tariffs have disparity. This is hampering compliance with universal service obligation, officials said.
