Tata Motors Jamshedpur Hospital denies negligence slur

Jamshedpur, October 16. The management has given its stand in the case of death of a woman in Tata Motors Hospital Jamshedpur. The management has shared all the information while denying any negligence.

Tata Motors Hospital management has issued a statement saying that Babita Rai was having problems related to uterus since the month of February. She was admitted to the hospital for treatment on 7 October.

The operation was done on 9 October. On October 11, the patient complained of vomiting and stomach ache. On the morning of 12 October, the patient’s health started deteriorating.

Due to severe stomach pain and low BP, she was shifted to ICU. Necessary treatment was given according to the patient’s condition. Babita Rai suffered cardiac arrest on 13 October at 6.30 pm. She was given necessary treatment including CPR but could not be saved.

It is noteworthy that 42 year old Babita Rai, resident of Radhikanagar of Telco police station area, lost her life. On Sunday, Babita’s family reached Telco police station regarding the matter.

However, the family members refused to conduct a post-mortem of the dead body, regarding which no written complaint has been lodged in the police station till now.

Relatives have alleged that due to negligence in the operation, there was a hole in Babita’s intestine. Even the doctors were not aware of this and Babita was shifted to the ward. Babita got a stomach infection. The doctors hurriedly performed another operation and put him on a ventilator. On October 13, the doctors admitted negligence and declared Babita dead.

  1. Our fight will continue till we get justice for her death and no one has to face similar situation in future. As we are fighting for Tata motors and Cummins employees and their families future. So that such extreme negligences can not be repeated again.

  2. Dr. Somenath Ghosh and Dr. Shipra Sarkar are extremely incompetent and unprofessional. They screwed up a hysterectomy, leading to bowel perforation, conducted no post operative scans and even ignored the post operative symptoms until sepsis had already spread throughout the body.
