Jamshedpur, October 16: . Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Varan Mahato has expressed his objection regarding the use of funds under the 15th Finance Commission in the lease area of Jamshedpur city.
The MP has written a letter to the Deputy Commissioner that Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has invited tender for several schemes under the 15th Finance Commission. These mainly include installation work of pavers blocks and construction of toilets.
All these works come under the lease area of Tata Steel. The development and maintenance of these fields will naturally be undertaken by Tata Steel.
The usefulness of those schemes in these areas is negligible.
In the plans taken up for the construction of toilets, due to lack of proper water and drainage system as well as lack of proper maintenance, all the toilets become unusable within a few days. Similar fate has befallen such schemes in the past also. The MP said that implementation of the above schemes will lead to misuse of funds transferred by the Centre.
Instead, it would be appropriate to use the funds provided by the Center in the settlement areas outside the lease area. For this reason, in public interest and in view of proper utilization of government funds, the above tender should be cancelled immediately.
The MP has also objected to the tender issued for the work related to the renovation of Kailash Sarovar Pond of Sonari under Amrit Yojana. He has alleged that a few years ago, work was done on this pond at a cost of about Rs 50 lakh and now again a tender has been issued for the same pond for about Rs 68 lakh
