The Programme was then launched by Mrs. Amy H. Billimoria, Principal Tarapore School who explained the process in which this unique programme will be conducted over the next four months.
The Dean of Academics, XLRI, Prof. Ashis K. Pani also addressed the gathering and explained the ways in which XLRI would assist this programme and the benefits to all involved.
Over twenty five Principals, vice-principals and coordinators from various schools attended the event.
Tarapore School, in association with XLRI has instituted a fellowship programme for students from classes X to XII. A fellowship provides students with a short-term opportunity to work on a project. This fellowship is merit-based and has a competitive application process with a focus on the leadership and professional development of the fellow. It is the coming together of the brightest minds to create a visible change in society.
This fellowship was thought of as a way to celebrate the unity among all schools of Jamshedpur and with the idea of providing a selected group of deserving students with an opportunity to make a difference. Chosen fellows will be given an opportunity to interact with students from the prestigious business school XLRI giving them role models and a dream to aspire for. They will also receive an exposure to leaders and influencers across the country.
Therefore the fellowship will focus on building leaders of tomorrow, who, along with their teams, can successfully identify and resolve problems that exist in the world today and become are changemakers for society.
The Activities will be structured in the following way
A rigorous selection procedure will be adopted where students undergo a written test followed by personal interviews.
An independent Selection Committee will identify suitable candidates and announce the selected fellows for 2018.
The fellows will spend the first few weeks learning about the chosen theme, its problems and scope for improvement. Meetings will be organized with representatives from the three pillars of society government, industry and civil society.
The fellows will then spend time brainstorming and finding specific, measurable solutions which can show results in a short time. They will start working on a project report with a problem identification, measures for improvement, plan for deployment and expected result. They will then deploy this project over a period of time and create a significant improvement. The fellows will compile all details of the project and present it before an audience at the end of the four months. The fellowship ends with an award ceremony and students joining an alumni.
