Tanushree Shankar troupe mesmerises Jamshedpur at concert

Jamshedpur, March 28: Manasi Club, Tata Motors Wives Welfare Organization, organized a spectacular dance concert by internationally renowned dancer and artist Tanushree Shankar and her troupe at Little Flower School Auditorium on March 28. Over 900 people, including senior leaders from a number of Tata Group companies, attended the two-hour musical and cultural extravaganza.
The proceedings began with the lighting of the auspicious lamp by the Chief Guest A B Lall, Head – Jamshedpur Plant, Tata Motors, Mrs Bharti Lall, President – Manasi Club, Mrs RuchiNarendran and other distinguished guests. Children from Asha Kiran School, a school for differently abled children, presented a beautiful rendition of Ganesh Vandana.

The first presentation of the evening, Indian Dance Creations, mesmerized the audience with its modern interpretation of the cultural diversity and richness that India has in the world of dance. Choreographed by Tanusree Shankar, the dance performance was based on the technique of New Dance, following the path shown by Uday Shankar, the pioneer who popularized Indian dance and music all over the world since 1920. Presented in a creative theatrical manner and not based on any pure classical or authentic rigid style of dance, the dance was embellished by music by the internationally acclaimed music composer, the late Ananda Shankar.

The evening’s main attraction was ‘Chirantan’, a collage of excerpts from Rabindranath Tagore’s vast repertoire of works inspiring and reinforcing Man’s belief in his own self, in truth, love, peace and spirituality. Amalgamating a mix of narration by the iconic artist Amitabh Bachchan, innovative lighting and music to create the perfect ambience, perfectly choreographed movements to depict the emotions expressed in the and supple, talented and well-synchronized dancers, the recital presented the emergence of a peaceful dawn of an era where love triumphs over hatred amid a haven of hope, goodness and tranquility.

The show ended with a Vote of Thanks by Mrs Papiya Choudhury, Secretary, Manasi Club. The event was a great success and proceeds from the same would be used by Manasi Club to further the cause of education for the girl child.
