Jamshedpur, July 16: In commemoration of the great poet and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, the Tagore Society, Jamshedpur, organized the annual Monsoon Festival at Rabindra Bhawan, the cultural hub of the city. This event aimed to keep alive the tradition of Viswa Kobi Rabindranath, who organized the Monsoon Festival as an ode to his beloved season of rain.

The programme featured dance and music performances based on Tagore’s compositions that were themed on love and the monsoon season. The dance-drama presentations included renditions of popular lyrical compositions of the Bard, which were inspired by the romance of monsoon.

The dance performances and song renditions were presented by students of the Tagore School of Arts. The duo of Chandana Chowdhury and Shubhendu Roy Chowdhury directed ghe entire musical extravaganza.

The accompanying instrumentalists included Dr Parthopriyo Das and Amitabh Dutta from Kolkata (table), Kumaresh Chanda on sitar and Arundhati Roy on the keyboard.

The event witnessed a presentation of dance and music that beautifully complemented the essence of Tagore’s monsoon-themed compositions. Speaking on the occasion, General Secretary of Tagore Society Ashis Chowdhury said, “Rabindranath Tagore is an incomparable poet of nature, and his compositions connect us to nature. Today, we all talk about reconnecting with nature, but Tagore conveyed this message through his compositions 150 years ago.”
