Jamshedpur, July 16: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy in view of the large scale complaints from Tata Steel lease areas about problem in clean drinking water supplied by TSUISL has suggested a short solution that industrial water supply should be done by drawing water directly from the rivers.
While for drinking water supply, as much water should be pumped daily from Chandil Dam into Dimna Lake as is required for Jamshedpur and nearby areas and this water from Dimna Lake should be supplied for drinking water through pipes, drinking water supply structure should also be erected at Satnala Dam. To keep the Subarnarekha alive from Chandil Dam, continuous scheduled environmental flow should be released, drainage based development plan should be made for Jamshedpur.
The drain should be cleaned and contaminated water should be cleaned before falling into the rivers. Sewerage system should be made an essential part of urbanization. The used water should be recycled.
A joint committee of Tata Steel and the Government of Jharkhand was formed to control industrial water and drinking water supply. MLA Saryu Roy said that apart from this, if there is any more accurate solution in the context of solving this crisis, then it should be discussed openly.
He also suggested that Tata Steel and the government should form a group of internal and external experts to consult on these points.
Roy informed that he will present his concept in a meeting convened by the Government’s Urban Development Department in Ranchi to consider implementation of Phase-2 for the strengthening and expansion of the present Moharda drinking water supply project.
