Syed Kirmani and Ashok Dhyanchand to visit Jamshedpur on December 18 for veterans tournament

Jamshedpur: Former Indian cricket team wicketkeeper and a member of the 1983 World Cup winning squad, Syed Kirmani, will visit Jamshedpur on December 18 to attend the closing ceremony of the ongoing Pankaj Memorial Trophy Cricket Tournament.

The tournament, being played at Keenan Stadium and Telco Ground, is organized for veteran players aged 60 years and above. The finale will be marked by the presence of eminent sports personalities, adding prestige to the event.

Along with Syed Kirmani, Ashok Kumar Dhyanchand, son of hockey wizard Major Dhyanchand and a former international hockey player, will also be present at the concluding ceremony. Former international athlete Gyan Singh is also expected to visit the city and participate in the programme.

In addition, Jamshedpur Cricket Association Secretary and former international cricketer Saurash Tiwary will attend the event as a special guest. Sources also say that 1983 World Cup hero Mohinder Amarnath may visit Jamshedpur, subject to his health condition.

Sharing details, Avinash Kumar, former captain of the Bihar Ranji team and head of the organizing committee, said, “We have got confirmations to attend the programme from Syed Kirmani, Ashok Dhyanchand, Saurash Tiwary, and Gyan Singh. He added that Mohinder Amarnath’s visit will depend on the status of his health.”
