Jamshedpur, March 14: Loyola School, Telco, organized a Teachers’ Orientation Programme to mark the beginning of the 2026 academic session, reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence and holistic education.

The programme began with a warm welcome to the gathering, which included Principal Charanjeet Ohson, Fr. Gerry, Fr. Oscar Horo, coordinators, moderators, and members of the teaching faculty. Tr. Sofia led an invocation.

The highlight of the event was the presence of Fr. Dr. Joseph Mathew, SJ, Chair Professor of the JRD Tata Chair for Business Ethics and faculty in Organizational Behaviour and General Management at XLRI – Xavier School of Management. Fr. Mathew was felicitated by Fr. Gerry with a shawl and by the Principal with a sapling as a token of appreciation.

The orientation featured reflective sessions rooted in Jesuit values, encouraging teachers to explore their ‘teaching superpower,’ setting a personal motto for 2026, and discovering ways to de-stress amidst professional demands. Sessions focused on the dharma of a teacher, the spirit of Magis in education, and Cura Personalis, which emphasized care for the whole person.

Fr. Dr. Mathew shared the story of the ‘Broken Cannonball’ from the life of St. Ignatius of Loyola, illustrating how disruptions could become turning points. Teachers also participated in group activities discussing classroom crisis situations and collaborative strategies for effective problem-solving.

The programme concluded with an evaluation, closing reflection, and a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to God, the resource person, Principal Ohson, Fr. Gerry, the organizing team, and all teachers for their active participation.

The orientation encouraged educators to renew their commitment to nurturing students with wisdom, compassion, and excellence.
