Surya Mandir Samiti hosts Vijaya Milan Samaroh, prepares for grand Chhath Mahotsav

Jamshedpur: The Surya Mandir Samiti of Sidhgora organized the Vijaya Milan Samaroh at Shankh Maidan on Tuesday to ensure the grand success of the upcoming Chhath Mahotsav. His Excellency, Governor of Odisha Raghubar Das, attended the event as the chief guest, while Bhupendra Singh, President of Surya Mandir Samiti, presided over the ceremony. Several prominent figures, including committee patron Chandragupta Singh, and thousands of devotees were present.

During the meeting, the Samiti outlined plans for a grand Chhath Mahotsav emphasizing cleanliness, purity, and reverence. Preparations include cleaning the temple ponds, filling them with fresh water, and providing worship materials at cost price. A cultural evening featuring renowned artists is also in the works to complement the celebrations. Surya Mandir and Shri Ram Mandir premises will be adorned with 11,000 earthen lamps and fireworks on Deepawali eve to mark the festival.

Governor Raghubar Das highlighted the significance of Chhath as a reflection of cultural heritage, urging devotees to maintain discipline, cleanliness, and devotion. “Chhath Mahotsav teaches us respect for nature, purity, and devotion. May Chhathi Maiya and Surya Devta bless everyone with prosperity and peace,” he said.

Chandragupta Singh, the Samiti patron, expressed gratitude for the continuous public support and invited city residents to attend the Chhath Mahotsav at Suryadham Chhath Ghat.

Key appointments were made for the event, with Kamlesh Singh as Program In-Charge for Chhath Mahotsav 2024, supported by co-in-charges Sushanto Panda and Rakesh Singh. Various teams were designated for responsibilities such as cultural programs, traffic management, and Prasad distribution to ensure smooth execution of the festival.
