Supreme Court Advocate Killed in Hit-and-Run in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: A 38-year-old advocate of the Supreme Court of India died after being hit by a speeding car near Mount View School on Dimna Road under the Ulidih OP area on Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Shashi Bhushan, a resident of Subhash Colony. The accident occurred around 7:00 AM when the victim was reportedly standing by the roadside.

According to eyewitnesses, the car, moving at high speed and allegedly out of control, rammed the victim. The impact was so severe that the victim was dragged for nearly 50 feet before the vehicle came to a halt.

Driver flees after being confronted by locals

In the immediate aftermath, local residents rushed to the spot and managed to apprehend the driver. However, tensions escalated quickly, and the accused was allegedly assaulted by the crowd. Amid the chaos, the driver managed to escape from the scene.

Victim declared dead at hospital

Police personnel from the Ulidih outpost reached the spot soon after receiving information and shifted the critically injured man to MGM Hospital. However, doctors declared him dead after examination.

Had returned from Delhi hours before the accident

Family members revealed that Shashi Bhushan had arrived in Jamshedpur from Delhi earlier that very morning. According to his brother, Shashi Shekhar, the victim had briefly stepped out of the house, assuring that he would return shortly, when the fatal accident occurred.

Vehicle seized, manhunt underway

The police have seized the vehicle involved in the accident and launched a search operation to trace the absconding driver. Raids are being conducted at multiple locations as part of the ongoing investigation.

The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, raising concerns over reckless driving and road safety in the city.
