Jamshedpur, Nov 23: The supporters of Chief Minister Raghubar Das and Independent candidate Saryu Roy clashed in Raghuvarnagar at Burmamines on Saturday.

The clash began shortly after Saryu Roy entered Raghuvarnagar with his supporters for his pre-planned padyatra. During his campaign in the colony, a group of BJP workers allegedly raised slogans in support of Raghubar Das and clashed with Roys supporters. A heated exchange of expletives ensued after which the clash turned violent.

Sources said few people including members of both sides were injured in the incident. As the news transpired, local police officials reached scene and tried to pacify the supporters of Raghubar Das and Saryu Roy. In view of the volatility, security personnel were deployed in Raghuvarnagar.

Binod Jha, a local resident, said such incidents of clash between supporters of various political parties were unfortunate.

Former Jamshedpur Mahanagar BJP president Rambabu Tiwary is a resident of Raghuvarnagar. He was recently expecting a party ticket from Jamshedpur West, which was represented by Saryu Roy.
