Jamshedpur, Nov. 23 : The administration has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth and incident free polling to assembly elections on December 7 in Jamshedpur. Apart from the high profile security arrangements the district administration has taken up slew of measures to ensure electorate are not lured by the political parties to sell their votes.
East Singhbhum deputy commissioner-cum-returning officer for Jamshedpur parliamentary constituency, Ravi Shankar Shukla said that sensitive and super sensitive booths have been identified in the Assembly areas and security personnel would be deployed accordingly. “We are confident that the elections will be free and fair and we have finalised every details for the poll,” he noted.
An offical said that chopper Will be used to keep eye on Maoist affected areas. He said that the security forces are all geared up for the polling day.
Meanwhile, 800 police force of the district will be assisted by jawans of CRPF, Jharkhand Armed Police, homeguards, Rapid Action Police (RAP) and Rapid Action Force for maintaining security at the 1626 polling booths in the constituency.
In addition to this, micro observers have been deputed at polling stations to keep an eye on every movement of the polling agents and on the suspicious characters, if any, at the naxal infested booths and also at urban area booths which are vulnerable from the law and order point of view.
Meanwhile, following directive of election commission the administration would be introducing webcasting through tablets at highly sensitive booths and also carry out recording through videography. There are 110 highly sensitive booths in the constituency.
In addition to this, micro observers have been deputed at polling stations to keep an eye on every movement of the polling agents and on the suspicious characters, if any, at the naxal infested booths and also at urban area booths which are vulnerable from the law and order point of view.
He said that necessary arrangements have also been made for deployment of forces in the district for the smooth conduct of simultaneous polls. There was no dearth of police personnel during elections.
He added that checkpoints across district would be tightened. The police is fully geared up for the elections and all measures would be been taken to ensure free and fair elections.
On the security front, the administration has deployed 100 companies of security personnel, including 50 companies of the central paramilitary forces, largely in the leftwing extremist infested polling booths in the four Assembly segments of the Ghatshila sub division.
The district administration has constituted 72 medical teams to be deputed in sensitive booths, mostly in Naxalite-affected areas of the parliamentary constituency. Each team would comprise a doctor, three paramedics and nursing staff.
�The purpose behind initiating extensive and comprehensive measures on the polling day is to provide a peaceful atmosphere to the voters so that they turn up at the polling booths in large number and exercise their franchise without fear,� said an official.
