In a major relief to thousands of passengers battling the intense summer rush, the railway administration has announced the addition of extra coaches to the Shalimar-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) Kurla Express. The decision comes in response to an unprecedented surge in passenger numbers during the ongoing summer vacation period.

According to senior railway officials, the temporary arrangement is aimed at managing the heavy passenger traffic and ensuring a more comfortable journey for commuters traveling between West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra.

Key Highlights of the Railway Announcement:

• Additional Accommodation: The railway authorities are attaching one extra Third AC (3-AC) coach and one additional Sleeper Class coach to the train composition.
• Effective Dates: This temporary measure is operational with immediate effect, starting today, May 23, 2026, and will remain in place until May 29, 2026.
• Increased Confirmation Chances: The integration of these extra coaches is expected to drastically clear the mounting waitlist, boosting the chances of passengers securing confirmed tickets.

Catering to the Vacation Rush

The summer season traditionally witnesses a massive uptick in rail travel as families head to their hometowns and various tourist destinations across the country. This sharp increase in demand typically leaves regional trains heavily congested, with waiting lists extending into the hundreds.

A railway representative noted that the addition of these extra AC and Sleeper coaches will directly alleviate the pressure on the Shalimar-LTT Kurla route, which is highly popular among travelers from the Jamshedpur and Tatanagar regions.
