Jamshedpur, April 24: Brahmananda Narayana Hospital (BNH) Jamshedpur achieved a medical milestone with a successful CRT-D implantation procedure performed by Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Akhlaque Ahmed. The patient, 44-year-old Vinod Kumar Sharma, complained of severe breathing difficulties and was promptly attended to by Dr. Ahmed.
Following assessment through angiogram, Sharma was diagnosed with low pumping action of the heart (LEVF around 20%). Despite being otherwise fit, the patient required CRT-D implantation for improved cardiac function. The procedure was executed, leading to Sharma’s prompt recovery and discharge in stable condition after just one day.
CRT-D implantation, a day-care procedure performed under local anesthesia, is crucial for patients with congestive heart failure due to dilated cardiomyopathy. Dr. Ahmed emphasized the importance of timely investigation for symptoms such as fatigue, breathlessness, and inability to perform daily activities.
Vinit Raj, Facility Director, highlighted BNH’s advanced infrastructure and commitment to delivering top-notch cardiac care. The hospital’s success underscores its dedication to excellence in cardiology and complex cardiac interventions.
