Over 3 Lakh new voters registered in Jharkhand ahead of Lok Sabha elections

Jamshedpur, April 24: In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Jharkhand has seen a significant increase in voter registrations, adding to its electoral strength. Over the span of three months, the Election Commission of India (ECI) in Jharkhand reported a noteworthy influx of new voters, totaling 2,97,223.

According to recent data released by the ECI, a staggering 3,61,911 individuals have applied for registration during this period, with 55,581 applications currently pending. The surge in registrations underscores a growing enthusiasm among citizens to participate in the democratic process.

Eligible citizens, particularly those aged 18 and above, have been encouraged to register their names in the voter list before the April 25 deadline. Registration can be completed through various channels, including submission of Form-6 via Booth Level Officers (BLO) or online through the official website http://www.ajjcheru.gov.in/. Additionally, the Voter Helpline App offers a convenient avenue for accessing necessary information.

As of the latest announcement by the ECI, Jharkhand boasts a total of 2,55,18,642 registered voters. Among them, 1,29,97,325 are male, 1,25,20,910 are female, and 407 identify as third gender. Notably, the state also comprises 8,08,371 voters aged between 18 and 19, with 3,22,709 individuals aged above 80 and 1,39,445 above 85 years old.

To facilitate the electoral process, authorities have established 29,521 polling stations across Jharkhand for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, marking an increase of 57 stations compared to the previous general election.

The Lok Sabha elections in Jharkhand are scheduled to take place over multiple phases, with voting in various constituencies commencing from May 13. The phased schedule is as follows: Khunti, Singhbhum, Lohardaga, and Palamu on May 13, Chatra, Koderma, and Hazaribagh on May 20, Giridih, Dhanbad, Ranchi, and Jamshedpur on May 25, and Rajmahal, Dumka, and Godda on June 1.
