Jamshedpur, Dec 12: As part of the birth anniversary celebrations of the well-known Tamil poet and freedom fighter Subramania Bharati, Madrasi Sammelani organized a presentation of this poet�s verses through songs, dance and English rendering on Friday.
While Usha Rajagopalan, a Bangalore-base author of a book on selected poems of Subramania Bharati, recited the English translation his poems, Dr Smriti, a gynecologist at the Tata Main Hospital, sang the poems in Tamil.
Lakshmi Sharad Chandran, academic coordinator of Kerala Samajam Model School, presented a dance recital coinciding with the Tamil poems and their English translation, which were highly appreciated by the audience.
Earlier, K S Narayan, president, Madrasi Sammelani, welcomed the guests and introduced Usha Rajagopalan, Dr Smriti and Lakshmi Sharad Chandran to the audience.
B Chandra Shekhar, chairman, board of trustees, M Gopalakrishnan, N Ramamurthy, members of board of trustees of Madrasi Sammelani, along with committee members were present at the function.
