Jamshedpur, May 12: Jugsalai legislator Mangal Kalindi accompanied by Patamda BDO Shankracharya Samad, CO Ranjit Lohar, CHC in-charge Dr Samir Kumar and other medical staff, visited Patamda�s bordering village Panku to start a Health Sub Centre there which would prove to be a boon for people of the local areas, especially pregnant women who had to seek medical assistance in West Bengal�s Bari or Burrabazaar hospitals.
It may be mentioned here that for emergency medical attention including child birth, villagers had to travel a minimum of 25 kilometers to the Patamda Block office or hospital. With the lockdown declared the Bengal police are not allowing entry into the state, not even for medical emergencies. The villagers were in a catch 22 situation until today�s move which came as a great relief measure for them. The legislator�s initiative resulted in the commencement of this Health Sub Centre.
Speaking to the villagers, Mangal Kalindi asked them to maintain all lockdown rules to safeguard themselves and the community from coronavirus infection. Dr Samir Kumar assured that the Sub HC which commenced functioning today was equipped for emergency delivery facilities with one ANM, one CHO, one MPW and other health workers in attendance. Dr Kumar also stated that soon, a medical team would be sent to conduct health check camps.
Among others who were present on the occasion were JMM central committee secretary and social worker Astik Mahto, Pramukh Purnima Pavri, Parshad Sanju Kumari, JMM Patamda Block president Samir Mahto, Kumir village Pradhan and Congress leader Mrityunjay Mahto, Parshad Swapan Kumar Mahto, Sanat Mahto, Kisan Morcha vice president Subhash Karmakar, Mukhiya Sangh president Chandra Shekhar Tudu, social worker Kalipado Mahto, Anand Mahto, Dayal Mahto, Sagar Mahto and Vishwamitra Das.
