Jamshedpur: Some local goons entered the Karim City College campus in Mangos Azadnagar using foul language and dragged out a student and roughed him up while the professors and students looked on helplessly, perhaps too scared to rescue the student from the ruffians clutches. The student who was beaten mercilessly had cried for help but none dared to intervene. A local saloon barber was summoned who was asked to tonsure the student.

Someone alerted the Tiger Mobile and the jawans reached the spot and managed to rescue the student. The gang of goons and the student were taken to the police station where they were all questioned. The goons stated that the student used to tease a girl which the latter denied. He said that the girl concerned was his girl friend. Meanwhile, the barber who had tonsured the students hair was brought to the police station.

Attempts to arrive at a compromise continued till late at night. Later, the Patamda DSP Vijay Mahto questioned the ruffians.

The friends of the victim stated that the Azadnagar police were refusing to accept an FIR against the hoodlums who attacked the student. Instead, they were trying to create pressure on the students folks to go for a compromise they stated.

The Azadnagar police are even threatening them (the students family members) to either compromise or they (Azadnagar police) would send the victim behind bars on charges of eve teasing, the friends informed.

Some political leaders too, in support of the ruffians, are trying for a compromise. The Azadnagar PS OC Vishnu Rawat stated, It was a case of a fight among students. A minor students hair was cut with scissors. The victim students complaint has been filed. Both, the accused and the victim have been taken into custody.

Among the accused taken into custody are Danish and Ashfaqullah.
